Using Rice water for your skin and hair care DIY

We kicked off the Rice water Series with the general benefits of Rice water and how to prepare it. Click here to see how prepare rice water and how to use it to make your skin more vibrant.

Rice water can be included in our fundamental skin and hair care regimen. You can improve the action of your body cream or soap or shampoo by adding rice water to them.

I will show you how to do these in very simple steps.

Of course it is better to use rice water as a DIY skin or hair care product because we have to consider the fact that the synthetic product might contradict the action of the rice water and keep in mind that rice water only lasts for a maximum of five days; so you can’t exactly throw it into your 400mL body cream or shampoo.

  1. Rice water as body cream/ moisturizer

What do you need?

  • 1 cup of rice
  • 4 cups of water
  • Essential oils of choice
  • Coconut or olive oil
  • Perfume ( not necessary)

How do you make it?

-Rinse the rice thoroughly

-Boil 1 cup of rice in 4 cups of water until it is well cooked and the water is almost dry, remaining less than half a cup of thick rice water.

-Strain out the rice using a cloth sieve and make sure you marsh it properly so that you can get the rice paste pushing through the sieve. (it is important to get the rice paste)

-Add half a table spoon of coconut or olive oil and then a few drops of the essential

-the essential oil you add should give the paste its fragrance. But if you’re unsatisfied with the fragrance, there is the choice of adding any perfume of choice.

There! You have your body cream/ moisturizer. You can give it a test-run buy applying a little on the back of your hand and massaging it in.
