How to dress during self-isolation

The fact that you’re stuck at home with nowhere to go doesn’t mean you shouldn’t look your best, or at least somewhat presentable. As tempting as it might be to strut around in nothing but a pair of boxer shorts all day, you might want to consider putting in a little bit of effort when picking out your outfit for the day.

This is especially important if you plan on hopping on any video calls with your family, friends, colleagues or significant other. So save yourself from that last-minute scramble for clothes by following these tips the next time you reach into your wardrobe in search of what to wear.

1. Dress for comfort

Being comfortable should be at the top of every guy’s list of priorities when picking out what to wear. And I know I said you shouldn’t strut around in boxers all day, but hear me out for a second. The fact is feeling uncomfortable because your clothes don’t sit well on you is going to affect how you act throughout the whole day. So pick clothes that feel good to wear. Strutting around in boxers is actually not that bad, but the key here is finding the right balance between comfort and style.

2. Dress for the occasion

Do you have a video conference scheduled with the folks at work? Or is it your girlfriend’s birthday and the two of you have planned a virtual date? Whatever the occasion might be, I’m very sure there’s something in your wardrobe that matches your needs. So it is important to choose the right outfit at all times. You don’t want to end up looking too casual when the occasion calls for looking smart, or too formal when all you plan on doing is lay back and chill.

3. Don’t be afraid to experiment

Have you ever wondered what you would look like wearing an agbada with a pair of jeans? Or a crop top to show off those chiseled abs? Well, now’s your chance to find out. You can mix and match to your heart’s delight, or try something completely new. That’s the beauty of being at home. That sense of freedom. Plus it’s not like you could actually get arrested by the fashion police. So who knows, you just might end up discovering the next big trend while making a fashion statement.

And there you have it, a few points to guide your style selections during the quarantine. The halls of your home is your runaway, so don’t be afraid to work it. Have you been having trouble picking out what to wear lately? Let us know in the comments section below.
